Mukul Choudhary, who openly admires MS Dhoni, scored an unbeaten 54 off 27 balls. He led the Lucknow Super Giants to a surprising last-over victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter kept his composure while chasing 182 runs and turned the game around after LSG found themselves in deep trouble.
Mukul Choudhary score 54 off 27 balls
Before IPL 2026, head coach Justin Langer talked about Mukul’s potential to be one of India’s top finishers. On Thursday, the young player fulfilled that promise by scoring a fifty off 25 balls and pulling off a comeback that many thought was impossible.
The right-hander ended with 54 off 27 deliveries, hitting seven impressive sixes and two solid boundaries. One particular shot, a powerful whip over mid-wicket, reminded fans of MS Dhoni’s famous helicopter shot, exciting the crowd and stirring up nostalgia in the stadium and on social media.
Who is Mukul?
Mukul Choudhary, a wicketkeeper-batter from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, has made his way up the ranks with strong performances in domestic cricket and support from his family. His father, Dalip Kumar Choudhary, played a significant role in his early journey, encouraging his dreams despite the lack of resources in their hometown.
After achieving financial stability as a teacher and later working in real estate and hospitality, his father made sure Mukul received proper training by signing him up at the SBS Cricket Academy in Sikar. Mukul then moved to Jaipur to practice at the Aravali Cricket Academy, with his family relocating to help his growth.
