Aishanya Dwivedi, the widow of Shubham Dwivedi, one of the 26 victims killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, called on fans to boycott India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 cricket match. This match set for Sunday, September 14, at Dubai International Stadium. She criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian cricket team for their position and questioned their patriotism.

Dwivedi urged fans to “not go to watch” the match and “not turn on your TV for this.” Her husband, Shubham Dwivedi, died in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which led to India’s military operation named ‘Op Sindoor.’
She accused the BCCI of being insensitive to the families of the victims. Dwivedi said, “BCCI should not have accepted a match between India and Pakistan. I think BCCI is not sentimental towards those 26 families.”
Pahalgam victim families criticize cricketers
She also criticized the cricketers for their silence and questioned their loyalty. “What are our cricketers doing? Cricketers are said to nationalists. It is viewed as our national game. Except for a couple of players, nobody has offered to support boycotting the match against Pakistan,” she said. “BCCI cannot force them to play. They should take a stand for their country. Yet, they refuse to do so.”
The Indian government made it clear that teams compete against Pakistan in multilateral tournaments like the India-Pakistan Asia Cup, even though bilateral relations are currently severed.
