Ruturaj Gaikwad Century Rescues West Zone in Duleep Semifinal Showdown

On Thursday, the Ruturaj Gaikwad make the century on opening day of Duleep Trophy semifinal against Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bangalore. He reached his 8th  First-Class hundred off 131 balls, hitting 13 fours.

His team is in trouble early in day, but he make the vital 82-run partnership for the third wicket with Aarya Desai, helping West Zone recover from 10 for two.  He then teamed up with Shreyas Iyer and Shams Mulani for partnerships of 45 and 42 runs, respectively, and stabilizes the West Zone’s innings.

The ongoing Duleep Trophy marks Gaikwad’s first professional appearance since the Indian Premier League. During the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings skipper suffered an elbow injury and had to leave the tournament after just five matches.

The 28-year-old last played for India in July last year during the tour of Zimbabwe in T20s. Achieving consistency across formats and staying fit will be top priorities for Gaikwad during the domestic season because he aims to make a strong case for a return to the national team.
