First time that the Indian ODI captain, Shubman Gill has spoken about his omission. Gill made these statements during a press conference in Vadodara on Saturday, ahead of the ODI match between India and New Zealand on January 11.
Shubman Gill Handles T20 World Cup Omission with Grace
“I’m right where I have to be,” Shubman Gill says confident despite not being selected for the World Cup. While talking to the media on Saturday, India’s ODI captain was asked about missing the T20 World Cup squad. He said, “I believe I’m right where I have to be. And I believe that jo bhi cheezein meri destiny mein likhi hui hain, vo mujhse koi nahi chhen sakta.” (No one can take away what’s written in my destiny.)
“Obviously, as a player, you want to help your team win. But I respect the selectors’ decision,” Gill added about being left out of the T20 World Cup squad.

Shubman Gill also discussed the debate over the difficulty of one-day cricket, which was sparked by former India player Sanjay Manjrekar calling it “easy.”
“ODI format is not easy,” Gill confirms his stance on one-day cricket. When asked about the relevance and importance of one-day cricket, Shubman Gill said at the press conference, “Excelling in any format needs persistence and resilience. ODI format is not easy. India has not won the ODI World Cup since 2011.”
DGCA, AAIB notified. The Directorate of Civil Aviation confirmed that the incident has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. “As per regulations, the airline will submit a detailed report to the DGCA and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for further action,” the statement said.
