The Uttarakhand High Court has sent a notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding petitions that call for an investigation into the alleged misuse of 12 crore funds by the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU). These funds intended for organizing cricket tournaments. A report in the Times of India mentioned a CAU audit report, which stated that Rs 35 lakhs were recorded as spending on bananas for players.
HC Issue Notice to BCCI for misusing funds
Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari heard several petitions from Dehradun resident Sanjay Rawat and others who want a review of the association’s accounts for the 2024-25 financial year. The report showed that 6.4 crores spent on event management and 26.3 crores on tournaments and trial expenses, up from 22.3 crores the previous year.
The petitioners claimed that CAU misappropriated crores of rupees under the guise of food expenses. They also asserted that the facilities promised to state players never delivered. The high court has set the hearing for Friday.
