Vaibhav Suryavanshi has earned his place in IPL 2025 as the youngest player ever in IPL history at the age of 13 years and eight months. Notably, Rajasthan Royals bought him for ₹1.10 crores in the mega auction in Jeddah. Although this cricketer from Bihar has made the state proud, his achievement is being well-marred by allegations of age fraud.
He is the youngest player in IPL history, Vaibhav’s father asserts despite age-fraud allegations
Sanjiv Suryavanshi, Vaibhav’s father, vehemently denied the allegations, saying his son’s age has already been checked by official bone tests conducted by the BCCI. “When he was eight and a half years old, he passed his first BCCI bone test. He has already played for India U-19. We are not afraid of further tests,” Sanjiv said, firmly dismissing claims that Vaibhav might be 15 years old.
Not a pretty issue, Vaibhav’s cricketing journey has not been without its challenges. His father sold farmland in Bihar’s Motipur village to support his son’s dream. And despite being financially stretched even now, Sanjiv remained resolute. “Cricket is an expensive pursuit, but I believed in my son’s talent,” he shared.
Which team has bought Vaibhav?
The youngest player in the IPL earned his spot after impressing Rajasthan Royals during trials in Nagpur. Batting coach Vikram Rathour tested Vaibhav under pressure, asking him to score 17 runs in an over. Vaibhav’s three sixes in that over sealed his selection and made evident this undeniably skilled player.
Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwary has come out in full support of Vaibhav amidst the controversy. “His achievement is a proud moment for Bihar. We are confident in his capabilities and integrity,” he said.
As Vaibhav takes center stage, his family and fans think about the cricketing future and hope that the allegation will not disturb his booming career. The whole journey of the young star features the struggle and good times he has faced to become the youngest player in IPL history.
