Batting superstar Virat Kohli has arrived in MS Dhoni’s hometown, Ranchi. On Wednesday morning, November 26, he was seen leaving Ranchi airport. The 37-year-old right-handed batter named in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa on November 24.
Virat Kohli arrive Ranchi to play in ODI Series
He arrived in India from London on Tuesday to participate in the three 50-over matches. The first ODI of the India-South Africa series will take place at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30. The next two matches set for Raipur and Visakhapatnam on December 3 and 6.
India last played an international match in Ranchi in February 2024. They won the fourth Test of the home series against the English team under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. However, Virat Kohli did not play in that series due to the birth of his second child, Akaay.
Unbeaten century by Kohli in previous matches
Virat Kohli, who retired from T20Is on June 29, 2024, and from Test cricket on May 12, 2025, last played an ODI for India on October 25, 2025, against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground. In that match, he scored an unbeaten half-century, with 74 runs, and added 168 runs for the second wicket with Rohit Sharma, who scored 121*. This effort helped India win by 9 wickets, successfully chasing a target of 237 runs in 38.3 overs and avoiding a whitewash.
KL Rahul will lead India in the ODI series against South Africa due to the absence of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Both players are unavailable because of injuries. Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the innings for India in Gill’s place, and Tilak will take Iyer’s position as the No. 4 batter.
