Boeing opens doors for Indian startups and students to join its innovation leadership programme

As part of its annual flagship aerospace innovation, leadership and talent development programme Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD), the aerospace industry leader is inviting applications from Indian university students and early-stage startup entrepreneurs. By November 10, 2023, applications must be submitted for the program.

Boeing leadership Programme participants are university graduates and early-stage entrepreneurs. The program has partnered with seven incubators, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Madras, IISC Bangalore, T-Hub Hyderabad, and KIIT Bhubaneshwar.

The students are either graduating or will have graduated in 2023 in the engineering stream for a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree/or are enrolled in a Ph.D. program or a postdoctoral program. Startup entrepreneurs who are in preseed conceptualising and do not have funding can apply for the program.

In addition to aerospace and defence, Boeing leadership programme will train the selected applicants in technology, social impact, sustainability, manufacturing, and healthcare. The Aerospace and Defence program will focus on aviation, defence technology, space technology, and autonomous vehicles and technologies.

The technology startups will focus on IoT and Connectivity, Robotics and Automation, AI and Machine Learning, Digital Aviation, and Supply Chain Innovation.

For applicants to apply to their nearest grid, Boeing has allocated seven grids for different regions. IIT Delhi serves the north states of India, IIT Gandhinagar serves Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, IIT Bombay serves Maharashtra and Goa, IISC Bangalore serves Karnataka, IIT Madras serves Tamil Nadu and Kerala, T-Hub Hyderabad serves Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, and the seven northeastern states.

More than 750 innovators and 1,600 students and startups applied for the second edition of BUILD following the first edition in 2019. To support young entrepreneurs from India, Boeing has also organized a number of programs and competitions including HorizonX India Innovation Challenge, Accelerated Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Apprenticeship, and National Aeromodelling Competition with IIT.
