Indian Railways is set to replace conventional LHB coaches on several long-distance routes with the new-generation Amrit Bharat 3.0 rakes, which will include a mix of air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned coaches.
Amrit Bharat 3.0 rakes replace LHB Coaches
Unlike standard LHB formations, the Amrit Bharat trains have locomotives at both ends. These rakes can run at speeds of up to 130 kmph. The earlier Amrit Bharat 1.0 and 2.0 versions were entirely non-AC, but the new upgrade represents a major change by adding AC, sleeper, and general class coaches within the same formation.
The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is responsible for manufacturing the upgraded rakes.
