Audio storyteller and writer Neelesh Misra has accused IndiGo of mistreating his 10-year-old daughter during her solo trip as an unaccompanied minor. His post has gone viral on X. It has angered many and led to a response from the airline.
In his post, Misra claimed that an IndiGo flight attendant made rude and demeaning comments about his daughter, who was traveling alone from Lucknow to Goa.
Misra’s daughter mistreated in IndiGo flight
Misra quoted the attendant as calling his daughter a “finicky eater” and saying, “Don’t you have eyes? Go, go eat! Go and miss your flight.”
“This and a barrage of other rude things is what the IndiGo staffer (Laraib?) said about my 10-year-old daughter Vaidehi Misra, who just traveled alone as an unaccompanied minor from Lucknow to Goa,” Misra wrote.
“We all know about IndiGo’s arrogance toward adults. Today I saw it toward a child as well. I had to call the person and talk to her, and she still kept that attitude. You should ashamed,” Misra added, tagging the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s AirSewa X account.
Airlines Request Writer to keep Patience
In response to the allegations, IndiGo said on X, “Mr. Misra, thank you for your time on the call. Please be assured that we treat this matter seriously. We are reviewing the details thoroughly. Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your patience as we look into this closely.”
After conducting an internal review, IndiGo provided a detailed response, stating that Misra’s daughter cared for and assisted throughout her journey, with our teams remaining polite, attentive, and supportive at all times.”
The airline added that, in line with its Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) protocol, the child had continuous supervision at every stage of her journey. IndiGo also mentioned that as the departure time approached, Misra’s daughter wanted to visit a few food outlets. “Despite the limited time, our team members waited patiently, escorted her safely, and made sure she boarded the flight,” the airline said. They emphasized that being present, attentive, and supportive is a commitment of their staff.
