Ahead of the launch of the country’s first Vande Bharat Train, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has sent a letter to the Officer-in-Charge (IC) of Kaliachak Police Station in Malda. They are concerned about a possible stone-throwing attack on the train.
Police establish strong security measures during Vande Bharat Train flag off
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train from Malda Town Railway Station on Friday afternoon. Intelligence reports have shows a potential threat. The letter from the RPF indicates shows that the train targeted with stones once it departs.
The police instructed to establish proper security arrangements to prevent any incidents. The RPF’s letter states that a person named Subodh Kumar Sau informed them via email about some individuals planning to throw stones at the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train and display black flags.
Stone-Pelting Hits on train flag off
There are concerns that stones could be thrown at the Vande Bharat Train at various stations. It includes Jamirghata, Khaltipur, Chamgram, Shankhpara, New Farakka, Ballalpur, Dhulian, Basudevpur, and Tildanga, after it leaves Malda station. Therefore, Kaliachak police must ensure sufficient police presence at these locations and maintain law and order.
In the past, several incidents involving stones thrown occur at the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express. The railways took strict action in those cases. To prevent any unwanted incidents with the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, the RPF has acted proactively by reaching out to the IC of Kaliachak Police Station.
On Friday, the Prime Minister will visit Malda Town Railway Station to flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, connecting Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya) at around 12:45 PM.
