At least 69 people died, 37 are missing, and 110 have been injured as Himachal Pradesh cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides continue from days, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said. A heavy rain alert is in place for all districts in the country till Monday, July 7.
The Chief Minister stated 14 separate cloudbursts reported because of the onset of the monsoon, which has broken roads and damage water projects, as well as energy supply to numerous areas.
CM Sukhu Extend support to Himachal Pradesh havoc affected families
Mr Sukhu said his authorities “stands with the disaster-affected families” of the state and, consistent with news agency, will offer Rs 5,000 to each family as “renting lodging”. He also said that search-and-rescue operations are continue in Mandi district.
Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister and promised solution and support, not just for Himachal however other states stricken by the monsoon, includes Gujarat and Rajasthan.
“In the wake of heavy rainfall in parts of the country, spoke with the chief ministers of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh. Adequate numbers of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams deployed and reinforcements can be sent.”
69 Dead in Floods and landslides
The monsoon entered Himachal Pradesh on June 20 and cause havoc in country. The current statistics suggest Mandi district reported over a dozen deaths, while 13 people have been confirmed killed in Kangra, six in Chamba, and 5 in Shimla.
The most-affected areas in Mandi are Thunag and Bagsayed, each of which is in the Assembly constituency held by former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur. Mandi’s Karsog and Dharampur areas have also reported heavy destruction. 40 people reported missing from Mandi. Deaths reported from Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Sirmaur, Solan, and Una districts. Over 100 people injured across the state.
