A red alert was issued in Delhi because of severe heatwave. Temperature range from 40.9 to 45.0 degree Celsius in various climate stations on Wednesday. The heat index, a measure of how warm it feels whilst humidity touched a 51.9 degrees Celsius.
Heat Index in Delhi Cross 50 degrees
At 5.30 pm, Ayanagar was the currently at 45 degrees Celsius, followed by Palam at 44.5 degrees Celsius. Ridge is at 43.6 degrees Celsius, Pitampura at 43.5 degrees Celsius, and Lodi Road at 43.4 degrees Celsius. Mayur Vihar is at 40.9 degrees Celsius and Safdarjung, the town’s base station, reported 43.3 degrees Celsius.
On the heat index crossing 50, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it relies upon on temperature and relative humidity. It vary throughout the day based on modifications in these values.
Heatwave conditions found in Delhi and at isolated places. IMD said, adding that while as three stations reported heatwave conditions the previous day, only one station – Ayanagar – recorded such conditions today. The IMD bulletin said those temperatures had been above normal by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, triggering continued heatwave situations probably to last till June 12.
Citizens Advise for Better Hydration
A red alert advises citizens to “take action,” stay hydrated, keep away from direct solar publicity, and limit outdoor movement, in particular during afternoon hours.
“The intense warmness is predicted to persist until Thursday. A western disturbance is probably to have an effect on northwest India from the night time of June 13, that also cause light rain and thunderstorms in Delhi,” said Dr Naresh Kumar, senior IMD scientist.
