US Vice President JD Vance expressed his hope that his wife, Usha Vance, who raised Hindu, will one day feel inspired by the Catholic Church and embrace Christianity. He made these remarks at a Turning Point USA event in Mississippi on Wednesday.
JD Vance wants Wife Usha to convert to Christian
“Now, most Sundays, Usha will come with me to church. As I’ve told her and said publicly, and as I say now in front of 10,000 of my closest friends, do I hope that she moved by the same thing that moved me in church? Yes, I honestly do wish that because I believe in the Christian gospel, and I hope my wife eventually sees it the same way,” Vance said when asked if Usha would come to Christ.
He added that his wife’s faith does not pose a problem for him. “But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will, so that doesn’t cause a problem for me. That’s something you work out with your friends, with your family, and with the person you love,” Vance said.
Led debate over H-1B visas
Making faith a significant part of his remarks, JD Vance said, “I make no apologies for thinking that Christian values are an important foundation of this country.” He said this in response to a question about church and state separation. “Anyone who tells you their view is likely has an agenda to sell you. I’m honest about the fact that I believe the Christian foundation of this country is a good thing.”
This statement comes as the debate over H-1B visas intensifies, with Indians being the largest group of recipients. This situation has led to an increase in anti-Indian racism and hate speech, including calls for the deportation of Indians.
