Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, known for his innovative ideas, has made several important remarks about the Indian economy. While speaking at the CSIR’s Technology Transfer Ceremony, Gadkari mentioned that for India to become the world’s third-largest economy, it needs to reduce imports and boost exports.
He also said that agricultural waste can be turned into useful products, which would benefit farmers and decrease the country’s reliance on crude oil imports.
Nitin Gadkari talk about Trump’s Tariff
Gadkari’s comments come at a time when US President Donald Trump has imposed a 50 % tariff on Indian goods, including an additional 25 % tariff on Russian oil imports. The minister explained that using petroleum-free bio-bitumen in road construction would significantly help in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Highlighting the advantages of using agro-waste, Gadkari pointed out that it would lower pollution from stubble burning, improve resource use, and strengthen the economy.
Gadkari proposed ways to lessen reliance on imported oil. India could save about 4,500 billion dollars in foreign exchange if it blended 15 % biofuel into vehicle fuel. This would also cut down on crude oil imports. Currently, India ranks as the world’s 4th largest economy. To move up to third place, we must reduce imports and enhance exports.
