Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday arrived in Canada’s Kananaskis to wait the G7 Summit. This marks his first visit to Canada in a decade. Discussions with international leaders at the G-7 Summit can centered on important global problems, including power security, technology and innovation.’
PM Interacts with Leaders in G7 Summit
“At the Summit, the Prime Minister will exchange views with leaders of G-7 countries, different invited outreach international locations, and Heads of International Organisations on vital global problems, including strength safety, technology, and innovation, in particular the AI-power nexus and Quantum-related problems,” the Ministry of External Affairs earlier said.
Modi, who is on a 3-country tour, arrived Monday evening (nearby time) in Canada from Cyprus on the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The Kananaskis accumulating on June 16-17 is the Prime Minister’s 6th consecutive participation in the G7 Summit.
Bilateral Conferences in Canada
Prime Minister Modi can hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit, coming over a month after India’s Op Sindoor had centered terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attacks.
Newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney’s invitation to Modi to attend G7 Summit signaled the new government’s reason to restore the ties with New Delhi that plummeted to rock bottom after Canada’s baseless allegations connected to the killing of pro-Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
However, in the previous number of months, the safety officers of India and Canada resumed contact, and both facets were searching for the opportunity of appointing new high commissioners.
