Sri Lanka Grants Free Visas to 236 Rescued Iranian Sailors After U.S. Submarine Strike

Recently, Sri Lanka are granting one-month visas to 236 Iranians and made humanitarian gesture. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security share details on this. He focus that the decision follows the international law and rejected claims of political bias.

Minister Wijepala added that this action not favor or oppose any party, it is gesture of humanitarian. He mentioned that Sri Lanka take similar actions in the future if needed. He highlighted the challenge of balancing humanitarian principles with maintaining neutrality.

The rescued individuals evacuated from the sunk frigates ‘Iris Dena’ and ‘Iris Bushehr.’ From the original group of 32 survivors, 10 are receiving treatment at the national hospital in Galle, while 22 discharged. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath confirmed that it continue to uphold international legal standards in dealing with the situation.
