Trump Announces U.S. Withdrawal from Iran
Leavitt confirmed the timing in a post on X and encouraged the public to watch the broadcast. “Tomorrow night at 9 pm ET, Trump give an address to the nation to provide an important update on Iran,” she said in her announcement on Wednesday evening.
This address comes as US and Israeli military actions against Iran enter their second month. New polling data shows that many Americans disapprove of the ongoing conflict.
Will war tensions lower?
Amid the fighting, Trump considering a plan to send American personnel into Iran to secure the country’s supplies of highly enriched uranium. The mission is expected to last several days and would likely involve special forces tasked with extracting radioactive materials. Such an operation put US service members deep inside Iran, exposing them to potential missile strikes and drone attacks from local forces.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said that the USA could end its military operations against Iran quickly. “We’ll leaving very soon,” he told reporters, adding that the withdrawal could happen “within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three.”
