US President Donald Trump plans to impose tariffs from 2 April. He cite the high tariffs from countries such as India, china, and Brazil. But still, India hope for resolution through trade negotiations currently underway between Washington and New Delhi. Trump aims to hit the range of trade partners with tariffs, and revealed the address to joint session with reciprocal tariffs. It shows the intensified concerns about trade wars, that impact the economic growth. The remarks came at Trump at time when commerce minister Piyush Goyal is on week long visit to US for trade negotiations

As per people familiar with ongoing talks, who spoke on anonymity condition, The Indian side escape tariffs that trump threatened to impose from 2 April as both sides are engaged in constructive negotiations to address each other’s concerns, consists tariff and non-tariff barriers
The Indian delegation led by commerce minister Goyal is in US for crucial meetings. The negotiations are on and we agreed on first tranche of a mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement by fall of 202, the people said. The another person added, “The Indian delegation deliberate on line of trade matters of joint statement finalised at the meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi on 13 February. The visit is part of efforts to negotiate the bilateral trade agreement by the fall.”
