US President Donald Trump said that the US will sell F-35 stealth fighter jets to India and improve the Defence System. The F35 jets will join the elite club of countries. Trump also said in reports, that we will increasing military sales to India by billions of dollars in starting of year. On the statements of Trump sells F-35 jets to India, news agency Bloomberg report, Any such move will take long time and may face serious issues, because India already have strong defence ties with Russia.
US increases military sales, Trump sells F-35 jets to India
Trump has not give timeline yet, but planning to increase foreign military sales, especially for cutting-edge technology such as stealthy F-35 jet. It take a years to work, news agency reported.
Trump joined the news conference after met with Modi, and said, the countries are struck an agreement that consists India Importing more US Oil and gas to shrink the trade between two countries. He also said that New Delhi and Washington will work together to confront what he knows as “the threat of radical Islamic terrorism”. Foreign military sales related to F-35 are considered government-to-government deals.
India US Relationships
Before Trump sells F-35 jets to India, India have already ties with US, and agreed to buy over $20 billion of US defence pieces since 2008. The country agreed to buy 31 MQ-9B SeaGuardian and SkyGuardian drones last year after deliberations last for over 6 years.
Reuter mentioned in the US Congressional Research Service report to India is expected to spend over 200 billion over the next decade to get defence products.
The Trump’s announcement also shows the continued confidence in expensive American weapons system. It has been derided by Elon Musk, who is world richest person and close advisor of Trump. Musk has also do one on one meeting with Modi recently. In this meeting, he drew some questions over whether the richest man in the world was meeting the Indian premier or business capacity.
