A 19-year-old college student was brutally murdered on Monday morning in the Sarkaghat sub-division of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district.
The victim, Siya Guleria, lived in Nain village. She attacked while walking to college.
Murderers slit throat, stabbed her to death in Mandi
The incident occurred around 9:30 am as she walked toward the Gopalpur bus stop. Reports say a man on a motorcycle intercepted her and slit her throat. He also stabbed her multiple times in the neck and arm, which caused her to collapse and die on the spot. Local villagers quickly caught the fleeing attacker and handed him over to the police.
Accused arrested
He taken into custody right away. The police are questioning him to find out the motive for the murder. Mandi superintendent of police Vinod Kumar confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. The victim’s body taken to a local hospital for a post-mortem. Leader of the opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur shared his sadness about the incident on social media. He said that the crime has shamed the state and created fear among families whose daughters travel for education. Thakur added, “The law and order in the state is in bad shape. Those involved punished for their terrible crime.”
