A 20-year-old student at a private college raped by three men in a deserted area near Coimbatore International Airport late on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The police have begun extensive searches for the men who allegedly attacked the first-year postgraduate student after assaulting her boyfriend.

Preliminary findings shows that the three men confronted the student and her boyfriend, who were sitting inside a car, around 11 p.m. on a piece of land near Brindhavan Nagar-SIHS Colony Road. They broke one of the glass windows with a stone and opened the car door. The group then attacked the man before taking her to another location and assaulting her, according to police sources.
Politics tensions occurs
Opposition parties condemned the Coimbatore incident. In a social media post, Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami criticized the DMK government over the situation.
He urged CM M.K. Stalin to ensure that the attackers arrested and face severe punishment under the law. BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagethran expressed deep shock over the alleged gang rape and criticized the DMK government for failing to protect women in the state.
