CBI Probes Death of Model Twisha Sharma
A Special Crime Unit from the CBI, which included women officers, arrived at Giribala Singh’s home in the Katara Hills area. They spoke with family members and collected documents and other evidence related to the case. Officials stated that the team then went to the Army Cantonment Kurushetra Mess in the Shahjehanabad area, where Twisha’s family is currently living.
The CBI officially took over the investigation on Monday night and re-registered the FIR previously filed by the Madhya Pradesh Police against Twisha’s husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, and retired district judge Giribala Singh. The agency has charged both individuals with dowry death and alleged destruction of evidence.
Court yet to hear requests
The agency stepped in amid rising controversy over suspected mistakes in the initial probe and concerns voiced by Twisha’s family about possible evidence tampering. Sources can shows that the CBI is looking into claims that the police notified several hours after Twisha’s death, which may have allowed important evidence to be disturbed.
Separate requests to preserve Call Detail Records (CDR) and CCTV footage have also been submitted to a Bhopal district court. Twisha’s family has asked for the protection of mobile records, while Giribala Singh’s side has requested the preservation of CCTV footage from the home. The court is set to hear both requests.
