A shocking incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh when a couple accused of buying a six-day-old baby and then abandoning her on the roadside within two years. According to a media report, they abandoned the baby because they believed the child brought ‘bad luck’ to their family and business.
Madhya Pradesh couple arrested for buying toddler at 1 lakh
On April 18, the Manpur police station received a call about a baby girl abandoned on National Highway 552 near Soi Khurd. Police arrived at the scene and took the baby to a medical center for examination. They registered a case and began investigating the incident.
Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, police identified an unidentified car (MP 07 ZA 0067) registered to AkashMoodda, a resident of Bhopal. A police team went to Akash’s home in Bhopal and questioned him and his wife. A woman who claimed to the child’s caretaker in Bhopal said that the couple never revealed the child’s origin. She hired to care for the baby for Rs 20,000 a month, but quit after not receiving her salary.
Abandoning Her within 2 years as ‘Bad Luck’
During questioning, the couple admitted that they adopted a girl, but later revealed they purchased the baby from Indore for Rs 1 lakh.
Based on this information, three special teams formed and sent to Indore under the Superintendent of Police’s direction. Officials arrested six people connected to the case, including four women and two men.
