In a tragic case of alleged harassment, a young woman named Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida and married into a Bhopal family of lawyers and a retired judge found dead under mysterious circumstances on May 12. The situation has become serious since Twisha’s parents claimed she faced dowry harassment and torture.
Miss Pune Twisha Sharma dies in dowry Harassment Case
Twisha, a former Miss Pune, married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025 after meeting him through a dating app in 2024. Her relatives reported that she wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida. She stayed in contact with her family until shortly before her death. Her brother, Harshit Sharma, serves as a Major in the Indian Army.
Since her marriage in December 2025, Twisha living in Bhopal with her husband and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh. Before getting married, she completed her MBA and worked at a multinational company.
Police investigate against Husband and In Laws
The Bhopal police set up a Special Investigation Team to look into allegations of dowry harassment, assault, and destruction of evidence against Twisha Sharma husband, Samarth Singh, and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh.
Twisha’s family protested outside the home of Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, demanding a new post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi. They also refused to perform her last rites, said they only do so after uncovering the truth behind her death.
The family accused Twisha’s husband and in-laws of ongoing mental and physical abuse and alleged that they attempting to influence the investigation.
