The police in Pathankot, Punjab, have uncovered a suspected espionage network and arrested a man for sharing sensitive information about the Indian Army and paramilitary movements with contacts in Pakistan.
Baljit Singh, also known as Bittu, lives in Chakk Dhariwal village. According to the police, he installed a CCTV camera at a shop near a bridge on the Pathankot-Jammu section of National Highway-44.

He allegedly did this to monitor the movements of the army and paramilitary forces. The surveillance feed was transmitted electronically to operatives in Pakistan and other locations, according to senior police officer Daljinder Singh Dhillon.
During questioning, Singh admitted to setting up an internet-based CCTV camera at a shop near Sujanpur in January. He received instructions from an unknown person in Dubai and was paid Rs 40,000. The police recovered a CCTV camera and an internet WiFi router from him.
Leak Army Movement Information to Pakistan
The police took action after receiving intelligence about suspicious activity along the Pathankot-Jammu stretch of the highway. The Sujanpur police filed a case against four individuals. Along with Singh, the case includes Vikramjit Singh, also known as Vikka, Balwinder Singh, known as Vicky, and Taranpreet Singh, also called Tannu. Police said that the accused were involved in criminal and anti-national activities.
Officials have submitted a detailed report to senior authorities. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the cross-border connections of the network and trace the funding sources for the alleged espionage. Raids are in progress to understand the remaining suspects.
