A disturbing case of revenge violence has come to light in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. A college student’s home was attacked with petrol-filled bottles after she ended her relationship with a man from Chennai, who is reportedly linked to several criminal cases.
Petrol Bomb Attack on Student spark safety issues
According to police sources, the woman is a student in Coimbatore. She had been in contact with a man named Karthik, also known as Mariyappan, from Chennai. Their friendship eventually turned into a relationship. However, she later uncovered his alleged criminal history, which includes over 31 pending cases related to robbery and murder.
After discovering his past, the woman chose to end the relationship and cut all ties. Investigators say the accused continued to harass her and pressured her to stay in the relationship.
Family face threats and then petrol attack
The situation escalated when the accused, along with three associates arrived at the woman’s home near Thondamuthur on motorcycles. At the time, her father was outside the house.
Police said the group allegedly insulted the family and made threats before throwing petrol-filled bottles at the house. One of the bottles fell near a shoe rack outside, but fortunately, no injuries or casualties occurred.
Following a complaint from the victim’s father, the Thondamuthur police opened a case and began an investigation. A special police team has been created to find and arrest the suspects, including the alleged troublemaker from Chennai.
