According to sources, the police raided the area to capture him after receiving a tip. Jaga threw bombs at the officers and attempted to escape, which led them to fire in self-defense. He was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The encounter happened just five hours after a video circulated on social media. The video showed a brutal attack on Mangala Behera near Ambika Nagar Square under Bada Bazar police limits.

In the video, attackers hacked Behera while he pleaded for mercy. The assault took place Saturday night while Behera, a resident of the Haridak handi Jaimill area, was out for fast food.
Jaga and his brother Balia allegedly chased, threatened, and attacked him multiple times before fleeing the scene. Initial investigations suggested that previous grudges motivated the attack. Behera had been released on bail just four days prior in relation to a bomb attack case. Jaga also had a criminal history, with at least nine cases against him registered at Bada Bazar and Sadar police stations.
