The Delhi High Court has ordered the preservation of the assets of businessman Sunjay Kapur. He died in London in June last year, leaving behind an inheritance valued at Rs 30,000 crore. This comes amid a bitter family dispute involving his third wife, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, and his children Kiaan and Samaira Kapoor from his second marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor.
Kiaan and Samaira have accused Priya Kapur of forging a will that claims to be from Sunjay Kapur. They also allege that she filed an incomplete asset list that notably omits expensive polo horses and luxury wristwatches from brands like Rolex.

The children further contend that several properties and valuable paintings owned by Sunjay Kapur, part of the larger Kapur family assets, are not included in the list submitted to the court by Priya Kapur.
This afternoon, the court said that Sunjay Kapur’s assets “need to preserved and not dissipated.” It granted an interim injunction that prevents Priya Kapur from selling the assets and also restricts the operation of his bank accounts.
The court emphasized that it is Priya Kapur’s responsibility to clear doubts about the will. It mentioned that Karisma’s children had established a strong case and that it unfair if no action taken, and will later found to fake.
What is behind the row?
The ongoing dispute includes tensions between Priya Kapur and Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, as well as his sister, Mandira Kapur. This conflict has led to sharp exchanges.
Sunjay Kapur, 53, died while playing polo in London on June 12 last year. Initially, his cause of death recorded as cardiac arrest, although there were reports suggesting anaphylactic shock. His mother later implied there was a “transnational conspiracy” behind his death.
