A video showing an AC outdoor unit installed in a dangerous spot on the 23rd floor of a high-rise apartment in India has raised concerns online. A technician refused to service it, calling the setup a serious risk to life.
The clip, shared by the X account Saffron Chargers, showed the unit precariously placed outside a narrow balcony. There was hardly any room for someone to access it safely.
Technicians denies risky 23 floor AC service in India
The height and lack of support structures made the situation look alarming, even on camera.
In the video, the technician pointed out the placement and explained why he turned down the job. “Let me show you where they have the AC put up and want it serviced. If they attach it like this, who will want to service it? This is the 23rd floor. Who will do this just to earn Rs 300-400?” he said, emphasizing that the risk outweighed the pay.
He also questioned accountability, adding that if someone fell while trying to make repairs, “who will take the responsibility?”
Share video, talk about safety standards
The video lead a discussion about safety standards in residential buildings and the risks faced by service workers. Several users pointed out that proper safety equipment for working at heights exists and could reduce dangers if it were accessible and required.
Others argued that the problem goes deeper. They blamed poor building design and a lack of regulations, noting that in many countries, dedicated and accessible spaces are planned for outdoor units to avoid such risks.
