Maharashtra Blast: Heeding the latest developments, a tragic explosion that led to eight deaths on Friday morning at an ordnance factory in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra, left seven persons injured. The Maharashtra blast in the Jawahar Nagar zone collapsed the roof of the factory, leading to the onset of rescue operations immediately. Earthmovers were used to move debris from the scene and firefighters and ambulances raced to the scene to help the wounded.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari described the Maharashtra blast as “very tragic incident” in an event in Nagpur and confirmed the casualties and injuries. A tragic incident happened at an ordnance factory, in Bhandara where an explosion resulted in the death of eight. Also, seven people were injured. Gadkari requested all to pause their movements in silence to “remember all the victims.

Defence Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his regret over what happened and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and their wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. [Singh] assured on X (formerly Twitter) that the rescue teams are in their efforts and everything is being provided what it should be.

This is deeply saddening. I am with the bereaved families in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that the injured people get well soon after the Maharashtra blast at the Bhandara ordnance factory,” Singh said.

The explosion has also sparked criticism from political leaders. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has attributed the incident to the supposed lapses of the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“This is the failure of Modi government,” he said.

Rescue missions continue as the governing authorities investigate the causal explosion. This case has brought out the necessity of strong safety guidelines at facilities handling hazardous materials.
