As the festival season approaches, the UP Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) is taking steps to stop bad food and sweets from sold. FSDA officials have been raiding food establishments includes Haldiram across the state to ensure they follow safety rules.
On Thursday, FSDA teams conducted raids in different parts of Lucknow. During these raids, officials discovered about 1 quintal and 12 kg of expired Son Papdi and Rajbhog at a Haldiram storage.

The expired sweets were worth around ₹45,000. The entire lot was disposed of immediately. The FSDA also collected samples of assorted Peda, Rasgulla,GulabJamun, Petha, and Gujia.
In other areas of the city, the FSDA seized 10,415 kg of expired spices and Khoya. Officials sent 15 samples to the lab for testing. At Swaroop Cold Storage in Aishbag, the team confiscated 8,499 kg of pepper valued at ₹53,24,550, a separate load of 1,538 kg of black pepper worth ₹1,53,800, and 378 kg of Khoya valued at ₹1,13,400.
Raids in Kannauj and Bulandshahr
About three days prior, on February 24, an FSDA team collected samples of food items like oil, flour, pickles, coloredboondi, and namkeen. They destroyed around 1.5 quintals of spoiled food, including items sold by local vendors. Chief Food Safety Commissioner Santosh Kumar Srivastava mentioned, “Our team took action yesterday and tested a cheese sample. A vendor was carrying cheese, but out of fear, he left it and ran away.”
FSDA Assistant Food Commissioner Vineet Kumar told the media that three teams inspecting various areas, including Shikarpur and Sikandrabad. The teams have collected some samples and sent them for lab analysis.
