The first edition of the Khelo India Tribal Games starts today in Chhattisgarh. The competition will run until April 3rd and will include events in seven sports.
The opening ceremony of the Khelo India Tribal Games will take place in Raipur today. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya officially open the event, with Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai also present.
Khelo India Tribal Games starts today in Chhattisgarh
This event aims to create a national platform for youth from tribal areas across the country. It helps them gain recognition and opportunities to showcase their sports talent.
The Khelo India Tribal Games will take place in three cities in Chhattisgarh: Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Ambikapur.
Over 3000 tribal athletes compete
Raipur will host competitions in football, hockey, archery, swimming, weightlifting, and kabaddi. Bastar will feature athletics events, while Surguja will hold wrestling and mallakhamb competitions.
Over 3,000 tribal athletes and officials from nearly thirty states and Union Territories will participate in the Games.
