Two more children from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, who were being treated for kidney failure after consuming toxic Coldrif Cough Syrup, have died. This raises the death toll in the district to 16, according to an official on Tuesday.

“Today, we reported the death of another girl. So far, 16 children have died in the district,” said Chhindwara Additional Collector Dhirendra Singh.
The state government confirmed that 14 children from Chhindwara had died after allegedly taking the syrup, which was found to contain toxic substances. Jayusha Yaduvanshi, a 2-year-old from Junnardeo in the district, died on Tuesday at a government hospital in Nagpur.

Additionally, six other children from Chhindwara are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Nagpur after consuming Coldrif Cough Syrup. Out of which, five of them in critical condition, the additional collector stated. Two-and-a-half-year-old Dhani Deharia, from Bhariyadhana village in Tamia block, died on Monday while being treated at Nagpur Medical College hospital.
