Rajouri administration in J&K has set up 1,670 women committees at the panchayat level to improve community involvement and vigilance against drug abuse in the district, officials said on Wednesday.
The initiative launched by Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma on Tuesday. It is part of efforts to strengthen the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan in the district.

Officials said that 1,670 Mahila Samitis created across the district. Training and activation sessions held at the sub-division level to ensure these committees work effectively.
The goal is to boost local vigilance and get communities, especially women, involved in spotting and reporting drug-related activities in their areas, they explained.
Women take role in campaign
“Women from nearby panchayats attended the meetings on Tuesday and promised to take an active role in the campaign,” the officials said.
They encouraged committee members to stay alert and collaborate closely with the administration and law enforcement.
