A 7-year-old boy, Ishank Singh from India made history by become the youngest person to swim across the Palk Strait. He belongs to Ranchi in Jharkhand and successfully crossed the strait, located between India and Sri Lanka in 9 hours and 50 minutes. He starts swimming at 4 am and finished at 1:50 pm.
He face challenges during swimming due to the sea waves, strong currents and changing weather. Despite the challenges, he managed to swim 29 kms distance from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Arichalmunai in Dhanushkodi.

When he stepped onto the sands of Rameswaram, officials and supporters greeted him warmly. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren praised Singh’s achievement. He called the seven-year-old swimmer an “extraordinary talent.”
Soren noted that Ishank’s success showcases discipline and a strong dedication to his goal. He expressed pride not only for Jharkhand but for the entire country in a post on X. The record belonged to Jay Jashwanth from Tamil Nadu, who completed the swim in 10 hours and 30 minutes at the age of 10 in 2019.
