A pregnant woman safely delivered a baby on a crowded moving train after quick action by Railway Protection Force personnel and fellow passengers helped save both mother and child. Baby was born in the Pune-Supaul Express.

The train had left Pune Railway Station on time and was traveling towards Supaul district in Bihar. Among the passengers in the packed general coach were 28-year-old RukhsanaKhatun from Uttar Pradesh and her husband Jameel Belawar.
The couple planned to get off at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, but during the journey, Rukhsana suddenly went into labor as the train approached Ahilyanagar station. With the train moving quickly and the general compartment crowded, the couple struggled to get immediate medical help. After receiving news of the emergency, Central Railway quickly launched ‘Operation Matrishakti.’
Railway Cops efforts to save mother and child
RPF constable SomnathPathade and head constable Vishwajeet Kakde hurried to the general coach. As Rukhsana’slabor pains grew stronger, it became impossible to move her out of the compartment or shift her to a hospital in time. The RPF personnel, along with women passengers in the coach, created a protective space for a safe delivery inside the train.
Soon after, Rukhsana gave birth to a healthy baby. The sound of the newborn crying brought relief and happiness to passengers who had been anxiously observing the situation. Railway officials had already informed Ahilyanagar station authorities and arranged an ambulance before the train arrived.
