Bihar CM Walks to Secretariat to Save Fuel Following Modi's Call

Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary walked from his official residence to the cabinet secretariat in Patna with senior officials on Friday. He did this in response to PM Narendra Modi’s call to reduce fuel use and spend more wisely due to the crisis in West Asia.

Choudhary traveled about 500 meters on foot from the Lok Sewak Awas (the CM’s official residence) to the cabinet secretariat office in the morning, accompanied by these officials.

Previously, the chief minister had ordered a reduction in the size of his convoy, which led his cabinet colleagues to do the same.

Choudhary, who became the first BJP leader to lead a government in Bihar last month, also mentioned that his administration plans to implement several measures to cut down on fuel use. These measures include encouraging work-from-home arrangements and establishing a ‘no vehicle day’ once a week.

Planning to save fuel

To reduce travel needs, all state government departments instructed to hold meetings via video-conferencing.

Bihar CM also said that orders given to decrease the use of palm oil in government office canteens.

Highlighting that the Centre is trying to protect people from the negative effects of the West Asia conflict, the PM called on May 10 for careful fuel use, delaying gold purchases, and limiting foreign travel, among other actions, to strengthen the economy.
