Several schools in Ahmedabad received a bomb threat via email just days before Republic Day on January 26, according to Ahmedabad’s crime branch on Friday. After learning about the threat, the crime branch’s bomb squad and forensic department began an investigation, which is still ongoing, as reported by the news agency.
Bomb threats to Ahmedabad and Noida Schools
In Noida, Shiv Nadar School also received a bomb threat through email. As a result, the Principal announced that the school closed on Friday, January 23. The email sent by the Principal stated, “Dear Parent, We received an email with a bomb threat this morning. As a precaution, the school closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026.”
The message continued, “School buses are returning, and parents should pick up their children at the designated drop-off spot. Parents can contact the bus staff for real-time updates about arrival at the location.”
Schools closed for safety of students and staff
Along with Shiv Nadar School, Bal Bharati School and Cambridge School closed on Friday in Noida. Cambridge School also received a bomb threat via email, prompting alerts to parents and requests for them to pick up their children as a safety measure. Bal Bharati School was placed on high alert, and pre-primary classes, including Nursery, LKG, and UKG dismissed.
No detailed reason for the high alert given to parents. Different sections of the school follow various schedules, timings, and bus routes, so students from classes 1 to 12 remained in the school, and no communication sent to parents regarding their dismissal.
The Noida police said on Friday that following information about the threat emails sent to some private schools, senior officers and police personnel from several stations, along with the bomb squad, fire brigade, dog squad, and BDDS team quickly deployed to the locations. Thorough checks are currently conducted.
