A 48-year-old Samajwadi Party leader has died after a high-mast light pole fell on his car in Pratapgarh district, Uttar Pradesh. Lal BahadurYadav was driving by a fuel pump when the pole was being put up. Suddenly, it collapsed, crushing Yadav’s car and killing him instantly.
Footage from the scene shows that the heavy pole crushed the front part of Yadav’s Hyundai Creta. The front windshield, especially on the driver’s side, was completely damaged. The airbags deployed, but the impact was too severe for Yadav to survive.
Light Pole incident in Pratapgarh, Kills Samajwadi Leader
A couple of motorcycles and an e-rickshaw were close behind Yadav’s car. They managed to brake in time and avoid the disaster.
After the incident, Yadav’s relatives and supporters protested against the fuel pump management. They accused them of being careless in erecting the pole. Pratapgarh Police recovered Yadav’s body and sent it for an autopsy. The district administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
