Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra claimed that a group of men harassed her on an IndiGo flight while she was traveling to Delhi for a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense.

In a post on X, she mentioned that the incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E-719 from Kolkata to Delhi. In the video shared by Moitra, you can reportedly hear passengers repeatedly chanting slogans like “TMC chor” and “Jai Shri Ram” inside the plane.
She said that a group of four to six men recognized her on board and later shouted abusive political slogans at her and heckled her after the flight landed, before passengers could get off. “This is no citizen anger,” she said. She called it harassment that put her safety at risk on the aircraft. “I was verbally attacked and heckled inside a closed aircraft and no way to escape this abuse,” Moitra wrote.

According to the complaint, the men allegedly shouted political slogans targeting her and her party, used insulting language, recorded videos of the incident on their phones, and encouraged other passengers to join in. She claimed their behavior seemed planned and intended for sharing on social media.
Mahua Moitra also alleged that the cabin crew not intervene, even though required to under Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) rules for dealing with unruly passengers. She criticized the airline staff for acting as “passive bystanders” and failing to issue warnings or escalate the situation to the pilot.
