Actor Prakash Raj shared a video on social media on Friday morning, tapping into the buzz about the viral Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP. In the video, Raj calls himself a “cockroach” and addresses Prime Minister Modi. He asks him to see how “cockroaches eat mangoes,” which is often said to be Modi’sfavorite fruit. This remark links to the political discussions prompted by the satirical account.
The video adds to the increasing interest in the fictional political movement created by digital strategist Abhijeet Dipke. CJP gained significant attention online earlier this month after a satirical reply to comments made by Chief Justice Surya Kant. It currently runs two separate social media accounts.
What Prakash Raj posted about Cockroach Janta Party
Raj, who has often spoken out politically, is seen in the video mixing ice cream with mango pulp before enjoying it as a summer treat. His post’s caption read, “Cockroach eating mangoes..yummy #CockroachJantaParty #justasking (sic).” By joining this trend, he uses the language and imagery closely tied to the Cockroach Janta Party’s online presence.
The 61-year-old follows the Cockroach Janta Party account on social media. He has also shared his posts and helped spread his messages online.
How the CJP took off
The online movement started as a satirical response to Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remarks. It has since become one of the hottest social media trends in recent days. Several film stars, including Anurag Kashyap, Dia Mirza, Esha Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and KunalKohli, among others, follow the social media account.
The Cockroach Janta Party was founded by Abhijeet Dipke, a 30-year-old Boston University graduate, and launched online on May 16. What began as an internet joke quickly turned into a viral political satire campaign on Instagram and X. The group gained over 19 million followers within six days on Instagram.
