A dispute over a reserved train seat on the Mumbai-Amritsar route has gone viral after a passenger claimed that a man, who said he was a railway employee, pulled the emergency chain when he was denied the seat. The incident, shared on X by a user named Sagar, sparked a wide discussion online about misuse of power and passenger rights on Indian trains.
Railway worker on Mumbai-Amritsar route Pulls Emergency Chain
According to the post, the confrontation started when the railway staff member allegedly tried to take a seat reserved for another passenger. When the passenger refused to leave, the man reportedly said he worked for the Railways and insisted he had the right to sit there.
The situation escalated when the employee allegedly pulled the emergency alarm chain, stopping the train temporarily. Sagar said the man then claimed the train would not move until he was allowed to sit in the seat.
Seat dispute hurt men ego
“When the actual seat owner refused to give up the seat, the staff member said, ‘This is my train. I work for the Railway. How can you stop me from sitting here?’ After the argument heated up, he pulled the emergency chain and declared, ‘The train not move until you let me sit,'” the user recounted.
According to the post, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel arrived at the coach after the train stopped. However, Sagar alleged that instead of addressing the chain-pulling incident, the issue settled informally after the man identified himself as a railway employee. The train then continued its journey. The post also claimed that the staff member later occupied the same reserved seat and taunted the passenger while officials present not step in.
