Residents of a Bengaluru apartment confronted a former army officer and his wife for allegedly calling a Muslim man “Pakistani” and “terrorist” after discovering his religion. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The residents stood outside the couple’s apartment door, stating that such behavior would not go unpunished in Karnataka.

“This isn’t your father’s house. This is Karnataka,” one man leading the residents said. The elderly officer responded by claiming he worked in the Defence Department and was an army officer, trying to intimidate the group.
“If you were in the army, then you should more patriotic,” the man shot back. “How can your wife call someone a terrorist after asking if they are Muslim?” The officer dismissed it, saying she reacted that way during a heated argument. “It was during the argument, leave it now,” he said.

The man went on to advise the former officer not to spread a divisive mindset in Karnataka, which he described as a “secular-minded” state. “Everyone here, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, are one and the same people. People like you should not come here and divide others based on caste, religion, or creed,” the resident said.
After some pressure from the group, the woman later apologized for using communal slurs. “If anything happens again, uncle, we will come right into this apartment, drag you out onto the road, and humiliate you,” the resident warned before leaving.
