A State Bank of India (SBI) ATM kiosk in Patna, Bihar, has been turned into a hair-cutting salon after the cash machine was removed and the ATM closed.
This unusual setup in Danapur has become the talk of the town. People now come not to withdraw cash but to get haircuts and shaves. A video circulating on social media shows the barber working inside the cabin, giving haircuts while the SBI ATM sign remains outside the kiosk.
Bihar SBI ATM turn into Hair Salon
Many customers enter the kiosk expecting to withdraw money, only to find barber chairs, mirrors, scissors, and shaving tools inside. Residents have started calling the location the “Hair Cutting ATM.” Locals mention that outsiders often mistake the spot for an ATM. Some walk in holding their bank cards, only to laugh when they see the inside.
A local shopkeeper noted that many youngsters visit just to take pictures and make videos. Photos and videos of the converted ATM have gone viral online, with some criticizing the failure to remove the ATM signage after it closed.
How does people react?
One person commented, “What’s surprising about this is that the bank must have shut down the ATM, so the landlord must have made the salon owner pay rent. Since the ATM sign belongs to the bank, it’s their job to take it down.”
Another person wrote, “Both are different. SBI and the new tenant.” A third added, “And now there’s great advertising, too.” Another person remarked, “In Bihar, anything is possible.”
Locals say the ATM was working before and was regularly used for cash withdrawals. However, after the machine was taken out, the space was rented and converted into a salon. The ATM branding and structure were left unchanged.
