A 23-year-old lawyer jumped to his death from Kanpur court premises, leaving behind a letter that accuses his father of mental abuse since childhood. This led to lifelong trauma and an inferiority complex. Priyanshu Srivastava jumped off the fifth floor of the Kanpur court building yesterday. He rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Before jumping, Priyanshu posted a WhatsApp story showing a handwritten letter detailing what drove him to this act. He accused his father of harassing him mentally throughout his childhood.
“I was only six when I took mango juice from the refrigerator without asking anyone. For this, I stripped and sent out of the house. I understand parents need to be strict, but not to the point where children feel suffocated. I tried hard to move on and live my life, but I don’t think it’s worth it,” he wrote.
Accuse his father for mental abuse
Priyanshu mentioned questioned about trivial matters, which he described as mental torture. “I can’t live with this anymore,” he said. He also spoke about the pressure from his father to choose computer science, even though he wanted to study physical education, which resulted in poor academic performance.
He said his father verbally abused and humiliated him in public. “He constantly asks where I’m going, when I’ll be back, and who I’m talking to on the phone. This unnecessary interference has become suffocating. It’s better to end it all than to feel trapped every day,” he said.
