Civil Services Day observed each year as a time for civil servants across India to reaffirm their dedication to the citizens and renew their commitment to public service and excellence in their work. This day honors the historic speech by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1947, where he referred to civil servants as the “steel frame of India.”
Theme of Event: Viksit Bharat
This year’s theme is “Viksit Bharat: Citizen-Centric Governance and Development at the Last Mile.” It aligns with the vision of a developed India by 2047. The focus is on transparency, accountability, and inclusive development, especially the last-mile delivery of services.
The inaugural session include a speech by Union Minister Jitendra Singh and a welcome address by Cabinet Secretary T. V. Somanathan. After that, a panel discussion explore the role and effectiveness of civil services, featuring experts from government, industry, and policy institutions.
