A disturbing video is circulating on social media, reportedly from India, the context of which is ‘a woman gives birth to her father’s child’. While the source of the video is not mentioned, the incident is bone-chilling, determining that women are not safe in their own homes, especially in Asian countries like India and Pakistan.
In the short video, the journalist asked to tell more about the baby. The woman, seen in black Shalwar Qameez and head covered, said that she was raped by her father. The baby girl barely looks 4-6 months old. While her attire shows modesty and dignity, the flip side shows a different picture. That is how a woman can be taken advantage of, irrespective of their religion and dressing style.

They are robbed of their autonomy and dignity as well as of bodily integrity. It is not only an infliction of physical harm but causes deep psychological scars that may last for eternity.
Denying women the right to give consent-a critical tenet of their fundamental human rights, which gives them the freedom to live free from violence and oppression and the respect with which they should be treated-puts rape at the very core of the violation committed.
