Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath issued a strong warning against offering namaz on roads. He made it clear that his government will not allow traffic to be blocked for these gatherings.

While speaking at an event in Lucknow, Adityanath emphasized that the Uttar Pradesh administration would first try to persuade people to comply. If that doesn’t work, he said authorities would take further action to uphold public order.
“You have to offer namaz, you can read it during your shift. We will convince you with kindness, and if that does not work, we will use another method,” Adityanath said, sharing a video of his speech on X.
Prohibits people to use public spaces for namaz
Yogi Adityanath stressed that the rule of law applies to everyone and that public spaces cannot be misused. “We will not stop namaz, but it should not happen on roads,” he added.
This isn’t the first time the BJP leader has opposed namaz in public areas. During the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, he criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government. He claimed that namaz was allowed on the streets while curfews were imposed before Hindu festivals.
