The Apple iPhone 15 series is now available for sale. The 2023 edition of Apple iPhones – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max – boast of a range of new features. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the first phones to feature titanium frames
As part of the “industry-first thermo-mechanical process”, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature a titanium-aluminum hybrid body. These phones feature titanium bands and a new substructure made from 100 percent recycled aluminium, making them more durable and lightweight.
iPhones 15 are the only phones that can shoot in 24MP by default
Almost all phones with high-resolution sensors take pixel-binned photos, and the iPhone 15 series is no exception. In contrast, most phones pixel bin photos to 12MP, but the new iPhone’s default setting is 24MP, which gives you a much higher resolution picture with more details than 12MP photos.
Featuring the world’s first 3nm chip, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are powered by A17 Pro
As the first chip in the industry to use the 3nm process, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been powered by Apple’s A17 Pro, the industry’s first 3-nanometer chip. However, the updated chip not only brings a new GPU, but also faster performance, improved neural engine, and Ray Tracing support, as well as the biggest GPU redesign in Apple’s history.
A smartphone with combined OIS and autofocus is a first
The new 5X telephoto lens was announced along with Apple’s new autofocus system — a 3D sensor shift that combines OIS with autofocus and moves in all three directions, the first of its kind on a smartphone. As a result, Apple claims that with 10,000 micro movements, image stabilisation will be more effective.
Action button that can be customized
It’s not a new idea to have an extra button. But, customisable Action buttons are actually new, since they allow users to assign actions to them so they can use the phone more efficiently. It is possible to retain the mute switch functionality or assign it to a camera shutter, voice recorder, and a variety of other functions.
It is possible to shoot 4K60 in RAW on iPhone 15 Pro models
Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the first phones to support 4K60 video recording in ProRAW. This allows users to record smoother videos with more detailed information for post-processing.
This 5X telephoto is equipped with a Tetra Prism lens structure, a new innovation for smartphone cameras
This new 5x telephoto lens features Apple’s Tetraprism, which combines optical image stabilisation with an autofocus 3D sensor-shift module to offer bright and detailed zoom shots.
